Cosmetics

Masterbatches are widely used in the cosmetics industry to manufacture premium-quality plastic packaging with excellent aesthetics, durability, and functional performance. They provide vibrant colors, UV protection, special effects, and enhanced processing characteristics while ensuring consistency across production batches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes cosmetic packaging colour harder than ordinary packaging?

The tolerance is much tighter and the geometry is against you. A brand colour has to read identically across a bottle, a cap, a jar and a tube that are different polymers, different wall thicknesses and different processes — and the customer sees them side by side on a shelf. Each component has to be matched separately against the same target. See Color Masterbatches.

Can you produce pearlescent and metallic finishes for cosmetic packs?

Yes — pearlescent, metallic, glitter and frosted transparent effects are all in our Special Effect Masterbatches range, and they are heavily used in cosmetics because they signal premium without a secondary coating operation. Note that flake pigments orient with flow, so weld lines and gate marks can become visible; trial the effect on your actual tool early. See shimmer effect masterbatches.

How do I get a deep, even colour on a thin-walled cosmetic bottle?

Thin walls give the pigment less path length to work with, so the same formulation reads lighter and more translucent than on a thick section. Either raise the pigment loading, add opacity with a white masterbatch base, or accept a translucent look and design for it. We match on your actual wall thickness rather than a standard plaque, so what you approve is what you get.

Why does dust settle on my cosmetic packaging?

Because plastics hold surface static charge, and dark, glossy cosmetic packs show every particle. An antistatic masterbatch from our Additive Masterbatches range dissipates the charge so dust does not cling. Migration is time and humidity dependent, so tell us how soon after moulding the parts are packed and shipped.

Do you supply masterbatch for PET cosmetic packaging?

Yes. PET needs a PET-carrier masterbatch rather than a polyolefin-carried one, or you get haze in a product where clarity is often the whole point. Our PET Masterbatches range covers cosmetic and personal care packaging alongside bottles and jars.

Can you add fragrance to a cosmetic pack?

Yes, through our Fragrance Masterbatches range — the scent is encapsulated so it survives the melt and releases slowly from the finished part. It is used on caps, closures and promotional items where the unboxing experience is part of the product. Tell us the polymer and process temperature.

Do you make cosmetic packaging masterbatch in India?

Yes. Life Color Pigments & Masterbatches is a cosmetic packaging masterbatch manufacturer in India, supplying colour, pearlescent, metallic and additive masterbatch for bottles, jars, tubes and compacts from Vasai East, Palghar, Maharashtra. Read more about us or contact us.

Send us the brand shade and the actual pack — we will match it on your own substrate and geometry and send a sample before you commit to a production run.
