Ever wondered how that food storage container in your kitchen got the white color on its lid? Or for that matter how your garden furniture has a granite effect in it? Your laundry basket has a green color? Your first guess by looking at any of these products is that its paint. Then you feel it, and realize it’s actually color as a part of plastic. Here’s where we come in to the picture.
We bring color to every aspect of your daily life in and around your house and your workplace. Here are some products that will remind you of us and what we do to make them look better and attractive.
Mostly colour masterbatch for the shade, white masterbatch for opacity in lids and containers, additive masterbatch for the functional problems such as static and stacking, and special effect masterbatch where a granite, marble or metallic finish lifts the product above a plain moulding. Most household products use a combination rather than one.
Because they are usually different polymers, different wall thicknesses and different processes. A thin injection moulded lid and a thicker blow moulded body will not read identically from the same formulation, and the customer sees them assembled. Each component has to be matched separately against the same target. See Color Masterbatches and why colour drifts between batches.
With enough well-dispersed titanium dioxide for the wall thickness, and rutile rather than anatase grade for durability and whiteness. Under-loaded white looks grey and translucent, which reads as cheap. Food-contact suitability is assessed against the standard that applies in your market. See White Masterbatches.
Because plastics hold surface static charge and attract airborne dust, and dark glossy surfaces show every particle. An antistatic masterbatch from our Additive Masterbatches range dissipates the charge. It is one of the cheapest improvements you can make to how a product looks on a shelf.
Yes, from our Special Effect Masterbatches range. Beyond appearance they hide scratches, scuffs and moulding marks on products that get handled, stacked and washed constantly — laundry baskets, storage bins and bathroom products in particular. See also furniture.
Yes, through our Fragrance Masterbatches range. It is used on cleaning products, bins, storage and air-care items where scent is part of how the product is experienced. The fragrance is encapsulated so it survives the melt and releases slowly from the finished part.
Yes, and household goods are one of the more forgiving applications — many products are opaque, thick-walled and not food-contact. The main constraint is colour: recyclate has a variable base, so deep shades, black masterbatch and speckled effects work far better than clean pastels. See Recycling Masterbatches and masterbatch for recycled and PCR plastic.
