Over the last 30 years there has been a phenomenal development of plastics use in agriculture. The benefits result from increased yields, earlier harvests, less reliance on herbicides and pesticides, frost protection and water conservation. Our products provide a more efficient use of farm land with a resultant healthier environment.
You will find our specially designed agricultural masterbatches and compounds in:
Because Indian solar exposure is high and most generic UV packages are sized for milder climates. Film loses tensile strength and elongation long before it visibly discolours, so the first sign is often a tear under wind load. The stabiliser package has to be specified against the actual solar load and the number of seasons required. See UV masterbatch for mulch film and our Additive Masterbatches range.
Greenhouse film has to survive agrochemicals as well as sunlight. Sulphur and chlorine-based pesticides attack the HALS stabiliser system directly, so a package that performs well on open mulch film can fail early inside a treated greenhouse. Greenhouse grades use a stabiliser chemistry chosen for that, which is why we list greenhouse film masterbatch separately in our Additive Masterbatches range.
In kilolangleys of accumulated solar radiation for the required service life, against the film gauge — not as a percentage addition. A thin film accumulates damage faster than a thick one at the same loading, and the same field in different parts of India sees very different annual totals. Quote us the region and the seasons required and we will size it. See UV masterbatch for mulch film.
Carbon black is itself an excellent UV screen, which is why black is the default for exposed polyolefins. Whether it is sufficient on its own depends on the loading, how well it is dispersed and the service life you need — poorly dispersed black leaves unprotected polymer between agglomerates. Our carbon black and UV protection article covers the loadings; the grades are in our Black Masterbatches range.
It depends on what you want the film to do. Black suppresses weeds by blocking light. White or white-on-black reflects heat and cools the root zone. Silver reflects light up into the canopy and deters some insect pests. Transparent warms the soil for solarisation. The colour is an agronomic decision first — see White Masterbatches and Color Masterbatches for the material side.
Black masterbatch with UV protection sized for the exposed service life, since drip lateral runs on the surface and pipe often does too. Dispersion matters as much as loading here, because an undispersed agglomerate is both a weak point and an unprotected one. See Black Masterbatches and our water tanks and pipes page.
Yes. PP tape for sacks and bulk bags is a UV-critical application because the failure mode is loss of tensile strength in a load-bearing product. The package should be specified against the service life you quote to your customer. See UV masterbatch for woven sacks and FIBC and packaging.
Yes. Life Color Pigments & Masterbatches is an agricultural masterbatch manufacturer in India, producing UV, colour and additive masterbatch for mulch film, greenhouse film, irrigation pipe and water sprinklers at Vasai East, Palghar, Maharashtra. Read more about us or contact us.
Tell us the film gauge, the region and how many seasons the film has to survive — we will size a UV package against real solar load and send a sample to trial.
