We develop colour and additive masterbatches for the engineering polymer family used in injection moulding, extrusion, sheet thermoforming and blow moulding — including polyamides, polyesters, polycarbonate, acetal, ABS and acrylic. Tell us the exact grade you are running and we will confirm the carrier and pigment set before we formulate.
Because it will not blend. Polyethylene is immiscible with polyamide, so a PE-carried masterbatch dosed into nylon remains a separate soft phase inside a rigid matrix. The result is reduced impact and tensile performance, visible streaking, and delamination at the surface. Engineering polymers need a carrier matched to the resin family — that is the whole point of a resin-specific grade.
Only if they are selected for it. A large part of the organic pigment range that performs perfectly in polyolefins at 200°C will char, shift shade or outgas at engineering polymer temperatures. We formulate these grades from a heat-stable pigment set and specify against your actual melt temperature and residence time, not a nominal figure. Longer residence in a hot barrel is often the real culprit behind a shade shift.
A correctly formulated, correctly dosed masterbatch should have minimal effect. Problems come from a mismatched carrier diluting the matrix, from pigments that act as nucleating agents and change crystallinity and therefore shrinkage and warp, and from excessive let-down ratios. Anti-warp and anti-sink grades in our Additive Masterbatches range exist for exactly these cases. Where dimensional stability is critical, trial before committing to a shade.
Yes, and they need their own approach. Glass fibre at the surface scatters light and dulls the shade, so a colour matched on unfilled resin will not read the same at 30% glass. Fibre orientation also causes colour to vary between flow directions and around weld lines. We match on a plaque moulded from your actual filled grade so the approval reflects what you will produce.
With a UV stabiliser package sized against the exposure, plus pigment selection for lightfastness — a shade can fade even when the polymer itself is protected. Polycarbonate and polyamide both yellow under UV without stabilisation. See our Additive Masterbatches range, our automotive and building and construction pages, and carbon black and UV protection for how carbon black compares as a screen.
Yes. Life Color Pigments & Masterbatches is an engineering polymer masterbatch manufacturer in India, producing resin-specific colour and additive masterbatch at Vasai East, Palghar, Maharashtra, alongside our PET Masterbatches, Color Masterbatches and Mono Concentrates ranges.
