What is made at Vasai East

Unit 1 at Vasai East is Life Color’s head office, colour laboratory and primary production site. Colour, black, white and additive masterbatches are produced here on single-screw and twin-screw extruders. The laboratory that matches and releases every shade is on this site, so a colour trial, a re-match or a complaint investigation happens where the production is, not at a remote office. Finished goods are held in the godown on site.

Who this plant serves

Unit 1 supplies plastics processors in Vasai East, Vasai–Virar, Palghar, Boisar and Tarapur MIDC, Bhiwandi, Thane and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Vasai–Virar sits inside the MMR conversion belt, so a converter in this belt is within a few hours of the plant — which matters when a colour has to be re-matched or a line is waiting for a top-up.

Sending a sample or a colour reference

Bring or courier a physical sample, a Pantone or RAL reference, or a set of colour values to the address below, marked for the colour laboratory. Include the polymer, the process (injection moulding, blown film, extrusion or roto) and the wall thickness or film gauge. The laboratory measures the reference on a spectrophotometer, develops the match in your polymer, and returns a plaque and a colour report for approval. Tell us the Delta E tolerance you want the shade released against; if you have not set one, we will propose one.

Questions we are asked about the Vasai plant

Do you sell from the Vasai plant directly?

Yes. Unit 1 is the sales office as well as the plant, so enquiries and pickups are handled here.

Do you match to a physical part, or only to Pantone and RAL?

Either. A physical part in your own polymer is the better reference, because the match is then made on the substrate you will actually run.
