Furniture

Masterbatches play a vital role in the furniture industry by enhancing the appearance, durability, and functionality of plastic furniture products. They provide consistent colors, improve weather resistance, and add specialized performance properties required for indoor and outdoor applications.

Applications

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does outdoor plastic furniture fade and go chalky?

Two separate things are happening. The pigment fades if it is not lightfast enough, and the polymer surface itself degrades under UV, which breaks down the resin around the pigment particles and leaves a chalky, rough surface. You need lightfast pigments and a UV stabiliser package sized against real solar exposure. See carbon black and UV protection and our Additive Masterbatches range.

Can you produce granite and marble effects for furniture?

Yes — granite, marble, wood and metallic effects are all in our Special Effect Masterbatches range and are widely used on chairs, tables and garden furniture. Beyond appearance they have a practical benefit: a speckled surface disguises scuffs, scratches and moulding marks far better than a flat colour, which matters on products that get stacked and dragged.

How do I stop my stacked chairs sticking together?

Usually a combination of surface finish and additive. A slip additive from our Additive Masterbatches range lowers the coefficient of friction between nested parts, and a textured or effect surface reduces the intimate contact area. Warm storage conditions make it worse, so specify against the conditions the product will actually be stored in.

Why do my mouldings warp or show sink marks?

Both come from uneven cooling and shrinkage, and pigments can make it worse — some act as nucleating agents and change crystallinity, which changes shrinkage. Anti-warp and anti-sink masterbatches in our Additive Masterbatches range are formulated for exactly this, and nucleating and clarifying agents let you control the effect deliberately rather than fight it.

Can I match my furniture colour across different components?

Yes, and it needs matching component by component. A moulded seat, an extruded tube and an injection moulded connector may be different polymers at different wall thicknesses, so one formulation will not read identically across all three. We match each on its own substrate against the same target. See Color Masterbatches and our shade card.

Can recycled material be used in plastic furniture?

Yes, and it is common in the frame and non-visible components. The constraints are appearance and load bearing: recyclate carries a variable base colour, so deep shades, black masterbatch and speckled effects work far better than clean pastels. See Recycling Masterbatches and masterbatch for recycled and PCR plastic.

Do you supply furniture masterbatch in India?

Yes. Life Color Pigments & Masterbatches is a furniture masterbatch manufacturer in India, supplying colour, UV, effect and additive masterbatch for indoor and outdoor plastic furniture from Vasai East, Palghar, Maharashtra. Read more about us or contact us.

Tell us whether the furniture lives indoors or outdoors, the polymer and the finish you want — we will recommend a colour and UV package and send a sample to trial.
